I’ve been with VerStandig Media since 2007, full-time since 2010. From 2010 to mid-2019 I hosted Nights with JD on WAYZ and from May of 2010 to October of 2017 I was co-host of Just Dirty Saturday Nights on Bob Rocks. I’m a 2002 graduate of the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, Washington DC campus. I was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Columbia, MD. I got into radio relatively late, at age 33, which turned out to be a good thing, since the best way to find your calling in life is to hold down a series of sanity-draining jobs you hate. I also spent most of the 90s playing in bands no one has ever heard of in bars that a select few have ever heard of. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have landed in radio, a job that enables me to use the mismatched and ragtag grab bag of skills I’ve acquired over the years, such as yelling at people and being an insufferable sarcastic know-it-all. As for the question I’m asked most often, “Why do they call you Just Bob?” The truth is it was a last-minute, spur of the moment decision that’s worked out. It’s useful to have a name with no associations to it; I’d rather people get to know me a little before deciding they don’t like me. In addition, you may have heard that I love Mountain Dew, Budweiser, and Totino’s Pizza Rolls; I don’t know where this vicious rumor originated but I’d like to clarify once and for all that it is 100 percent accurate.
