Of course I’m talking about streaming service passwords. What did you think I was referring to?
So yesterday we talked about Netflix’s new policy regarding password sharing and how absurd it is. I keep thinking about it though… many Bobs pointed out that if you pay your bill you should be allowed to share your password with at least even a small number of close family or friends. Instead they’ve tied it to “home devices” and IP addresses, which is a mistake in my opinion and one that will spark a backlash.
I don’t even share my Netflix password with anyone. But I might want to access my account from outside my home, whether on a trip or even in a waiting room or whatever. Once this policy takes effect I’m going to have to jump through a bunch of hoops just to use my own account. I’ll tell you one thing; if they make too overcomplicated, I’ll cancel in favor of the streaming services that let me watch where I want to.
