Today’s Question of the Day:

An oxymoron is a self-contradictory phrase. Examples include jumbo shrimp,

  • accurate estimate.
  • alone together.
  • awfully good.
  • bittersweet.
  • climb down.
  • close distance.
  • grow smaller

You get the idea. Again this question was suggested by Nasty Bob, who texted me a page about oxymorons from George Carlin’s book Brain Droppings. I recognized the screenshot immediately, as I’m a major Carlin fan and have read the book several times. Coincidentally I was on my afternoon walk when I got the text and was listening to a George Carlin album at the time [Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics (1990) in case you were wondering.]
