Well, this is the sort of thing you really don’t want to see. As mentioned on Rock News Daily this morning I mentioned comments from Matt Cameron and Chad Smith regarding a Rolling Stone story in which they were quoted. Both said that their quotes in the article, both regarding Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins, were misleading and taken out of context. Both mentioned what they described as Taylor’s state of exhaustion, and that he had expressed a desire to ease up somewhat on the Foo Fighters’ frantic touring schedule. The Foo Fighters camp denies this, stating that no such meeting between Taylor and Dave Grohl or between Taylor and Foos management ever took place.
And you can see why they might say that… the optics aren’t good. If Taylor had complained about exhaustion and then died a few months later it’s not a huge leap to presume that a lot of uninformed folks might jump to the conclusion that one event led to the other, which I’ve seen nothing to suggest.
So hopefully this all gets cleared up. Here’s the Rolling Stone article if you’d like to read it yourself.
