At the time of this post, I’m preparing and planning to go BACK on the air.
It’s no secret I’ve been out the past few days with Covid.  Thankfully I didn’t get it as bad as others.  It started as a head cold, which for me, is pretty common.  After the second day of aches, pains and fevers, I decided to get tested.  The last thing I wanted to do was infect my family, friends or my co-workers.  As it turned out, I was positive.  So, a few days off…  I’d like to say it was all fun and games, but it really wasn’t.  It wasn’t as bad as the first couple of days, but I did feel “off” most of the time I was home.
On Saturday I made some coffee like normal and everything seemed ok, but, then I started doing some laundry and I noticed I couldn’t smell the dryer sheets… DAMN!!!  Yes in about an hour and a half I lost my sense of smell and taste.  That really freaked me out.  Because for someone like me, without sense of taste… why go on living???  My sister had the same symptoms when she caught covid last year.  She said it shouldn’t take too long to come back.  I started reading up and I read that the loss of smell and taste usually happens around the 4-5 day mark of covid.  She said that she still experiences some stuff like oranges don’t taste the same.  I really hope I get everything back just like before.
There were a couple of times I could tell my lungs weren’t 100%, but thankfully, I don’t feel that much at all anymore.
Over the week I was gone I heard someone I knew had passed from covid.  I don’t know if this person was vaccinated or not, and I’m not going to ask, it really doesn’t matter.  But I will say this.  I’m here, I’m alive, I didn’t have to go to the hospital, nor were my symptoms that bad, and thankfully I decided to get vaccinated.  I’m not a sheep, I don’t live in fear, but I did talk to my doctor.  I wasn’t the picture of perfect health before I got vaccinated and I’m still not, but regardless, I would’ve still gotten vaccinated.  I’m not going so far as to say there people should be forced to get vaccinated, but there are now kids without a parent because of covid.  It’s not “just the flu”.  It can have lasting effects after it’s gone.  I know people talk about the 95% + survival rate, but you know if you’re in a car accident and you lose an arm and a leg and are hooked on machines to keep you alive, they say you “survived”.  Being “alive” and “living” are two different things.  Again, talk with YOUR doctor, maybe you have an allergy or something that would prevent you from taking it, but if you don’t, just consider it;  If not for you, for those around you.
