Weight Loss Problems I Didn’t Anticipate

Well, there’s one, actually. None of my clothes fit anymore. And I’m still hesitant to buy new ones because even though I’m down 70 pounds and it’s been five months, I still have this lingering fear that I’m going to put the weight back on. I don’t know why – I check my weight daily (yeah I know you’re not supposed to do that… I’ll stop someday), and I still track my calories, meaning that it’s nearly impossible for me to replicate the behaviors that led to me putting on so much weight in the first place. And I exercise a lot more, both with my weekly training sessions with Giant Bob at Functional Fitness 4U in Chambersburg, as well as my sessions at home and my daily walks, which I’ve resumed now that the swelling on my broken toe has subsided.

So I thought, instead of walking around in baggy clothes that hang on me like a tarp, I’ll borrow a t-shirt from Nitty Gritty. So I found a size L t-shirt hanging in her closet. I grabbed it and put it on. It wasn’t until several hours later that I mentioned that I had borrowed her shirt. “Just a plain black t-shirt,” I told her. She looked puzzled. “I only have one size L plain black t-shirt, and I’m wearing it.” She was indeed wearing a plain black t-shirt, implying that unbeknownst to me, I was not.

She paused, then smiled. “Did you look at the back?”

I strained my neck to try to look at the back. There was something there, but I couldn’t tell what. I could see enough of it to see that whatever it was was hot pink.

This is what was there:

I felt a little bit sheepish. Although I whole-heartedly support the message, I’m not sure I’m the right ambassador for it. Also hot pink is not in my palette.
